Sadeem Privacy Policy

Sadeem is a stargazing app made by Mohammad Kanbar ("we", "us"). This policy explains what happens to your information when you use Sadeem on iPhone, iPad or Mac.

The short version: Sadeem does not collect your personal data. We have no accounts, no servers that store your information, no advertising, no analytics and no tracking. What you create in Sadeem stays on your device, and in your own iCloud account if you turn sync on. We cannot see it.

1. Information that stays on your device

Sadeem keeps the following on your device only:

• your observing journal, notes, favourites, reminders and saved observing sites;
• your lesson progress, settings and preferences;
• recent sky and weather results, kept so the app works when you are offline.

We do not receive any of this. Deleting the app deletes it from that device.

2. Your location

Sadeem asks for your location while you are using the app so it can show the sky above you, rise and set times, darkness and observing conditions where you are. You can refuse, or later turn it off in Settings › Privacy & Security › Location Services, and instead choose a place by hand.

Your location is used in three ways:

• On your device, to calculate the sky. This never leaves your device.
• Sent to Apple's WeatherKit service, to get the weather forecast for that place. See Apple's privacy policy at https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/.
• Sent to Apple's geocoding service, to show a place's name and time zone.

We do not receive your location, and we do not store it anywhere except on your device (for example, with a saved site or a journal entry you create).

3. iCloud sync (optional)

If you turn on iCloud Sync, your journal, notes, favourites, progress and settings are stored in your private iCloud database, run by Apple under your Apple Account. We cannot access your private iCloud data. You can turn sync off at any time in Sadeem's Settings, and manage or delete your iCloud data in your device's iCloud settings.

4. Motion and compass

The Sky Map can use your device's motion sensors and compass so you can point your device at the sky. This is processed on your device only and is never stored or sent anywhere.

5. Notifications

If you allow notifications, Sadeem schedules reminders (for example, for a sky event, a dark night or the end of your free trial) on your device. We do not run a notification server and do not know which notifications you receive.

6. Purchases

Subscriptions and purchases are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never receive your name, email address or payment details. Apple tells the app only whether you have access to Sadeem Pro. See Apple's privacy policy for how Apple handles purchases.

7. Sharing and printing

When you share or print something from Sadeem (such as a sky chart), the app hands it to the destination you choose through Apple's share sheet. Nothing is shared unless you choose to share it.

8. Things we do not do

• We do not sell, rent or trade your information.
• We do not use advertising or advertising identifiers.
• We do not track you across apps or websites.
• We do not use third-party analytics or crash-reporting services.
• We do not create profiles of you.

If you choose to share crash reports with developers in your device's settings, Apple may share anonymous crash and performance reports with us. These do not identify you.

9. Contacting us

If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write. We use it only to reply, and we delete it when it is no longer needed to help you.

10. Children

Sadeem is suitable for all ages. It does not collect personal data from anyone, including children.

11. Your rights

Because we do not hold your personal data, there is nothing for us to access, correct or delete on our side. Your data is under your control: on your device and in your iCloud account. If you have a question about your privacy or the law where you live gives you rights you wish to use, contact us and we will help.

12. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top and publish the new version at this address. If a change affects how your information is handled, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect.
